After Edgar Allan Poe’s
A Dream Within a Dream
I think of me.
That me thinks that I think of me.
That me thinks that I think of me that thinks of me.
That me thinks that me is a mirror
standing across another mirror.
I watch me in the eternity.
I watch mes thinking of me.
I see me
is nothing but a dream
within a dream
in a dream.
Then I eat the apple.
Salaciously.
Behind the poem...
Forbidden is inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s A Dream Within a Dream: a poem which has always made me think about the slippery reality of the truth and dreams – about the brumous and dreadful relationship between these two. I can feel the sheer despair of existence, of being; of the self, watching itself, hopelessly, as it confronts life’s impermanence.
